He was angry. I sat in silence for about another few minutes before I felt compelled to say something.
“What’s the matter?” I said before elegantly taking a sip of my Starbucks.
He took a deep sigh. “You know what is. You don’t feel the same way as me.” He took out his cellphone and started looking at it, continuing to ignore me.
“Why would I invite you here for coffee then, if I intended for you to ignore me or to hurt you?”
“To make yourself feel better.” He eagerly replied. His blue eyes that normally were calm like the sea, now appeared to be similar to the Atlantic Ocean during Hurricane Sandy.
I ran my hands through my tangled hair, trying to fix at least one mess.
“Listen to me. In your heart do you truly feel like I have no emotions towards you?” I looked at him as he met my eyes. The ocean was beginning to calm again. “I didn’t think so. Go by what you feel, not what you heard anybody say.”
He looked less angry but still didn’t say anything.
“When I say I’m not ready, it means I’m not ready. It does not mean I’m not interested. I just need time. ”
He quickly spoke up. “How much time?”
I shrugged. “I’m not sure. I have absolutely no idea what the answer to that question is. All I know is I’m not Cinderella, so we don’t have to worry about Midnight any time soon.”
And to this he happily grinned.
